Life of a Fashion Intern 2 - Karl Plewka

Long time no blog, but interning rather took over my life for a while. I have now finished my work placement with Karl Plewka, but for the past 5 weeks I have been running errands, picking up and dropping bits off for photo shoots for magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vs. and Ligature magazine. I must have has thousands of pounds worth of clothing and accessories with me...luckily no muggings!

A few of the bags I had to carry...

Karl seems to do alot of shoots than involve underwear and gloves. What Katie Did, is a lovely boutique that sells vintage inspired under-garments. I Have been there so many times in the last four weeks I feel like I know the people in the shop. I love the name as I used to read the What Katie Did books as a child....and it helps that my name is Katie.

One of my more glamorous days involved a La Perla press day. Lots of lovely, yummy cakes and cocktails, not that I felt much like eating them infront of models wearing the latest collection.  La Perla is a high-end underwear and swimwear. Their stock was beautiful and I would love to own some!

This is Karl's gorgeous Miniature Schnauzer, Gus. He is one of the highlights of my internship...a bit sad!?

And that is that! My work placement for a fashion stylist is over. I wont miss running round London with massive bags and sore feet, but it was a very interesting experience. I recommend doing a few work placements before you set your heart on any job!

Life of a Fashion Intern - Karl Plewka

(my friend Laura, also an intern, looking sad on our lunch break....and the dreaded bags!)

It's not all glamour and pretty clothes! It's more like; sweat dripping down your face as you run with 10 heavy shopping bags down a street to catch your bus. I can't tell you how sore I am after a days work. I feel like I have run a marathon. HOWEVER, it's a brilliant experience,  a chance to make contacts and get a real insight into the wonderful world of fashion.

Today,  I picked up a MASSIVE amount of clothes and accessories for a photo-shoot tomorrow. I went to Vivienne Westwood's press office to get shoes and bumped into Beth Ditto! I also picked up fur from Noble furs (not a shop for animal lovers)  and more fur again from Ana Konda. I also saw Matt Horne on the way to What Katie Did, a faux vintage lingerie shop.

A very tired and sweaty me ended the day with two press-days. One for Gucci and the other for Hermes. (A press day is a chance for industry people to check out the collections before general release...an excuse to look at and talk about clothes with a cocktail in one hand and a mini pastry in the other.)

My phone sadly ran out of battery so you can't see the amazing leather handbags that were on display, not to mention the Hermes saddle.

London Fashion Week

The reason I haven't been blogging is the ridiculous hours I worked at London Fashion Week...

Backstage -

Zhiad Ghanem show at VFS

Best Oscar Fashion

Truly an uninspiring, boring and predictable year...so I wont post a million pictures. However, I thought Cate Blanchet looked good..and not completely predictable. However there is a slight outfit malfunction with a bra-strap.
