Book of the Month: Cold Comfort Farm

Just finished reading this novel by Stella Gibbons. It was a lovely read, not too taxing and really sweet and humorous. It's a Penguins essential book..which basically means...you should read it.
The main protagonist, fashionable and urban Flora Poste, finds herself at a relatives shabby farm. She quickly get to work on the residents including the comically named cows. She turns their world upside down, remaining every bit the lady in the meantime. This description may not sell it, but I really do advise it if you are looking for a light read. It's not too light though, just right. Cold Comfort Farm is worth a look.

French Vogue: February 2010

Absolutely love this editorial, French Vogue have really stepped up. It's a very very large amount of pictures so I have just picked my favourites.

So many famous faces. Images from TFS.

Born Free

I have a strange obsession with Africa. I randomly research it, I look at pictures of it and I always turn up the tv volume if something comes on about it. Have I been there? No. I find this very annoying, and I fully intend on going there in the next few years.
I am obsessed with the idea of the hot air balloon safari, infact any kind of safari! I also would love to stay with a tribe, and possibly do some sort of charity work.
I did a trip to Bolivia in 2007 and it included trekking, charity work, exploring and rest and relaxation. If I could organise an African version of this I would be the most happy person ever.
I know Africa has it's dangers...and I know it's inevitable that I will get sick there, but these are minor points when I look at pictures like these by Nick Brandt. His photography is certainly worth checking out.

JD Sallinger

I know I am a couple of days late, but this t-shirt jogged my memory. J. D. Salinger sadly passed away on January 27th 201. He was an American author, best known for his novel 'The Catcher in the Rye.'
I read this novel last year and absolutely loved it. It's first-person narrator, Holden is a student at Pencey Prep going about his life, Salinger admitted later that it was slightly auto-biographical.
I can't recommend this book enough, it's a classic. I found a t-shirt from Urban Outfitter menswear which was tres nice, but they don't sell it anymore...keep an eye out!

If the shoe fits...

If you need some new shoes...like every good woman does...but don't want them to look odd when it comes to summer, then look no further. I have select a few shoes for your viewing pleasure, all from TOPSHOP and all lovely. These shoes will see you through Summer and no doubt Autumn too. Boots!? you say...for Summer!? you say. Yes, that's right ankle boots are set to be big this summer, whether they are heeled or not, wack them with a pair of short, short a simple t-shirt or cami and blazer. You are ready for the sun. Be warned ankle boots and shorts aren't always flattering on shorter legs. Do not fear, just choose brogues instead.

Photographer Profile: Alfred Eisenstaedt

Brilliant and iconic; Eisenstaedt produced many iconic images. A German photographer renowned for his candid images, from protests to romantic moments. Eisenstaedt's most famous photograph is of an American sailor kissing a young woman on August 14, 1945 in Times Square.

Absolutely charming.
